Nielsen: Xbox 360 Used Most, PS2 Edges Wii (PC World)Date: Wed, 6. January 2010 19:36:00
PC World - The Xbox 360 topped Nielsen's top US game consoles ranked by usage minutes (23.1%), polling slightly ahead of Sony's PS2 (20.4%) and the Nintendo Wii (19.0%). No, that's not a typo. I meant to write PlayStation 2. Sony's PS3? Not on the fact sheet, which either means Nielsen didn't want to embarrass Sony, or they've done the rest of us a disservice by failing to include Sony's flagship game and Blu-ray box in their breakout.

Sony Makes It Hard To Develop For the PS3 On PurposeDate: Mon, 2. March 2009 15:04:51
adeelarshad82 writes "CNet reports on a bizarre comment from Sony's Computer Entertainment CEO in response to complaints from developers on how hard it is to develop games for the Playstation 3. 'We don't provide the "easy to program for" console that (developers) want, because "easy to program for" means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is, what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?' Given that games heavily drive console sales, and the fact that the PS3 is already 8 million units behind the Xbox 360, I think making a developer's job harder is the last thing Sony needs."pa href="http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/03/01/1522259amp;from=rss"img src="http://slashdot.org/slashdot-it.pl?from=rssamp;op=imageamp;style=h0amp;sid=09/03/01/1522259"/a/ppa href="http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/03/01/1522259amp;from=rss"Read more of this story/a at Slashdot./p

Xbox To Get Live TV and Massive VOD UpdateDate: Fri, 29. May 2009 15:05:00
CNETNate writes "It's a global first for Microsoft, and massive news for Xbox owners. Redmond and the largest pay TV service in the UK mdash; Sky, owned in part by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp mdash; has tied a deal that brings simulcast TV, sports, entertainment shows, pay-per-view movies and back catalogue television to the Xbox 360. It's an entirely streamed service, offering no download-to-own content, and partly rivals the BBC iPlayer, which is available on UK PlayStation consoles and the Nintendo Wii. The service will go live later in the year at no cost to existing subscribers, and screenshots show it fits in seamlessly with the Xbox Live interface."pa href="http://games.slashdot.org/story/09/05/29/045233/Xbox-To-Get-Live-TV-and-Massive-VOD-Update?from=rss"img src="http://slashdot.org/slashdot-it.pl?from=rssamp;op=imageamp;style=h0amp;sid=09/05/29/045233"/a/ppa href="http://games.slashdot.org/story/09/05/29/045233/Xbox-To-Get-Live-TV-and-Massive-VOD-Update?from=rss"Read more of this story/a at Slashdot./p
