First look at 'Gears of War 3' (omg!)

Date: Sat, 5. March 2011 03:53:25
omg! - It's not out for the Xbox until Sept. 20, 2011, but AP's Video Game Video got a sneak peek at the highly-anticipated game at a recent Microsoft showcase event for Xbox in San Francisco. (March 4)

Grab an Xbox 360 Elite for $250 (PC World)

Date: Tue, 22. September 2009 15:57:00
PC World - If carving up your Xbox 360's cardboard box and snail-mailing a proof of purchase tag doesn't bug you, you can score an Xbox 360 Elite for $250, net total. How? Microsoft's offering a $50 rebate to anyone who buys their premium $300 video games console before October 5th. Two weeks less a day, then, for fence-riders susceptible to the allure of a 17% price cut.

Is a 'slim' Xbox 360 Arcade with 4GB of storage on tap? (Ben Patterson)

Date: Wed, 14. July 2010 21:17:27
Ben Patterson - I just got my own, slimmed-down Xbox 360 console from the UPS guy the other day, and I must say, I couldn't be happier. It's slim, trim, glossy as can be, and oh so quiet. If you'd rather not spend $300 on a new Xbox, though, a cheaper Arcade version mdash; probably without a hard drive, like the original Arcade mdash; is on course for the fall.

Yes, Microsoft's Working on an Xbox Next. Surprised? (PC World)

Date: Tue, 31. March 2009 13:00:00
PC World - Sometimes it's what a company say it's not doing that grabs your head and twists it around. Case in point, Blizzard veep of game design Rob Pardo is flatly denying rumors the company's been rapping with Microsoft about a hypothetical Xbox 360 successor (unimaginatively dubbed 'Xbox 720' by the mathematically literalist media).

Don't Steal This: Xbox 360 Thief Tracked by Gamertag (PC World)

Date: Mon, 28. December 2009 18:23:00
PC World - If you steal an Xbox 360, don't forget to disable the auto sign-in feature before going online. That's the lesson high-tech crooks are probably gleaning from today's New York Post brief about a thief, 22-year-old Jeremy Gilliam, apprehended after logging into Xbox LIVE with his victim's online game id.

What To Do With a Free Xbox 360 Pro?

Date: Thu, 8. October 2009 15:05:33
OzPeter writes "Last week I won an Xbox 360 Pro. However, I am not a gamer, and after looking at the current MS offerings, I am not tempted to become one. But I am in the market for a Media Center PC that I can use for streaming TV shows off the 'net as well as general web browsing and displaying video through the HDMI port. With that in mind, I again looked at MS and saw they seemed to have positioned the Xbox as an adjunct to a separate Windows Media Center PC and not as a stand alone unit (which is not what I want). So, once again, I did some more research into the Xbox homebrew scene and discovered things like Xbox Linux. But after reading that site, it is apparent that MS is trying to beat down the homebrewers, and I am left wondering how much hassle it would be to go down that path. So my question is: how should I re-purpose my Xbox? Is it worthwhile doing the Homebrew/Linux option (and can anyone share any experiences)? Are there other ways of re-purposing the device that I haven't considered? Or should I just keep it boxed up as a Christmas present for a favorite nephew?"pa href="http://ask.slashdot.org/story/09/10/07/2226202/What-To-Do-With-a-Free-Xbox-360-Pro?from=rss"img src="http://slashdot.org/slashdot-it.pl?from=rssamp;op=imageamp;style=h0amp;sid=09/10/07/2226202"/a/ppa href="http://ask.slashdot.org/story/09/10/07/2226202/What-To-Do-With-a-Free-Xbox-360-Pro?from=rss"Read more of this story/a at Slashdot./p pa href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/kbP49hmwDavMDzi5t9ACYXN4UzI/0/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/kbP49hmwDavMDzi5t9ACYXN4UzI/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/abr/ a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/kbP49hmwDavMDzi5t9ACYXN4UzI/1/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/kbP49hmwDavMDzi5t9ACYXN4UzI/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/a/pimg src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Slashdot/slashdot/~4/kszi5WzKcGU" height="1" width="1"/

Asus, PrimeSense, to bring Kinect technology to HTPCs

Date: Mon, 3. January 2011 22:23:13
Microsoft's Kinect motion-sensing controller, originally aimed at the Xbox, has seen its Xbox-only hacked into submission. Knowing a golden opportunity when it sees one, PrimeSense, whose 3-D camera is a core part of Kinect, and ASUS have announced a team-up that will produce a similar device designed specifically for HTPCs.

PlayStation Network losing money, but the outlook is bright (Digital Trends)

Date: Tue, 28. December 2010 00:29:05
Digital Trends - Sony is a bit behind the curve when it comes to the online side of the PlayStation 3. Yes, Sony fans, it is still a great online experience, and the people are fantastic, and the console is better, etc., etc., but the sad fact is that Sony is playing catch-up with Microsoft.  The Xbox 360 has been airing video clips for years, has a full selection of music and videos to rent and buy, has begun to broadcast ESPN on Xbox Live (and also just announced that it will even be airing most of the Bowl games, including the national championship), and it is even discussing bringing a premium channel online. The PS3 hardware may be better, but the Xbox currently owns the online side. Search your feelings, PlayStation fan, you know it to be true.

Microsoft Disconnects Modded Xbox Users

Date: Thu, 12. November 2009 03:27:04
S-4'N3 writes "The BBC reports that Microsoft has disconnected approximately 600,000 Xbox users from Xbox Live because the devices they are using have been modified, either with software or with new chips, to play pirated games. 'Microsoft confirmed that it had banned a "small percentage" of the 20 million Xbox Live users worldwide. Microsoft said that modifying an Xbox 360 console 'violates' the service's 'terms of use' and would result in a player being disconnected.'"pa href="http://games.slashdot.org/story/09/11/11/1821255/Microsoft-Disconnects-Modded-Xbox-Users?from=rss"img src="http://slashdot.org/slashdot-it.pl?from=rssamp;op=imageamp;style=h0amp;sid=09/11/11/1821255"/a/ppa href="http://games.slashdot.org/story/09/11/11/1821255/Microsoft-Disconnects-Modded-Xbox-Users?from=rss"Read more of this story/a at Slashdot./p pa href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/emdk_eEUyEtLccGz2zzflWkkh1E/0/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/emdk_eEUyEtLccGz2zzflWkkh1E/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/abr/ a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/emdk_eEUyEtLccGz2zzflWkkh1E/1/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/emdk_eEUyEtLccGz2zzflWkkh1E/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/a/pimg src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Slashdot/slashdot/~4/k7nrGBSnauI" height="1" width="1"/
